The chances that you will be prosecuted for practicing polygamy in Utah are slim, unless you are committing some other crime too. But here’s the problem; institutional polygamy, as practiced by many groups here, is a closed system that is difficult to leave, especially for the women and the children of polygamy. You might want out, but no one is going to say, “Sure. Go ahead.” And if you can find your way out of the clutches of these powerful polygamist cults you will find yourself in a world for which you may have no reference and little understanding.
On this month’s episode of “What Do You Think, Utah?” We are going to be talking to 3 women who managed to find their way out of the world of Polygamy.
Our Guests will be:
- Kristyn Decker author of “Fifty Years in Polygamy – Big Secrets and Little White Lies” and founder of the Sound Choices Coalition.
- Brenda Nicholson – Blogger, public speaker, mother, and filmmaker.
- Christine Marie – foundedVoices for Dignity to help bring happiness into the lives of survivors of abuse and oppression.
Come hear these powerful stories and participate in the conversation live on Wednesday March 30th at The Club at 50 West. Admission is free, food and drink are available for purchase. LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.
